Last Week of School

Monday Aug. 26th marked the last week of school which felt good to be almost done. After school a friend from school Gloria said she would take us to see a fortune teller to see what the future would hold because in Taiwan it is very common to go to a fortune teller. Apparently my future looks good as I will have a good job and a nice house. It was exciting to hear my fortune being told in Chinese but I frequently needed Gloria’s help for translation. Wednesday since it was raining and we heard that another typhoon was approaching we were going to prepare by buying bread and water. Then on Thursday when the typhoon hit, I got all ready to go out in the rain but walking down all 5 flights of stairs it was then decided that it would be best to not go to school and risk getting sick. The other Americans in the morning classes thought the same thing. Then since it was the last day and it was still raining went to school late on Friday 30th since there was still the effects of the typhoon. When we got to school the teachers even said it was good that we didn’t come because it was too dangerous to be out on Thursday.

Since we told our landlord we haven’t been to a dance night club they took us to 18TC on Saturday. When we got to the club we saw a lot more foreigners than I was expecting but still had a good time. Sunday was the first in 4 days it wasn’t raining so we decided to go to a night market and look for cd’s that would be cheaper than if I would have bought the same cd in a department store. Then we decided that since we have been stuck in doors we were going to go watch the movie “We’re the Millers” which was funny. It feels good to be done with school and studying and to be able to travel for a few weeks before I head back to the states.
